Digital TV

Modern cable and satellite TV uses the same PAL and SECAM standards, but in digitized form and with MPEG-2 compression. In most cases, digital television is much better than terrestrial television, since the image quality is practically not affected by interference. But it should be noted that some unfortunate engineers compress the transmitted signals so much that the quality of the satellite or cable channel becomes worse than the channel received on the air antenna. Although the channels transmitted in a "pure" analogue remained, perhaps, only in Moscow. The signals go to the regions via satellite, which means they are compressed in MPEG2. The difference is that the on-air broadcasting system uses separate satellite channels, the compression in which is not as high as, for example, NTV PLUS.
