How to choose a good washing machine?

Until recently, laundry was a nightmare for most of the female population of our country. Of course, washing machines already existed then, but working with them was a nightmare! What was worth only the release device in the form of two rollers on the "female" traction! And therefore, immediately after the appearance of full-fledged automatic washing machines on our market, incredible popularity immediately fell upon them. After a couple of years, there were so many models of various “washers” that it became very difficult to choose among them the one you need. Everything is different: the amount of laundry loaded, the type of heating element ... In a word, for the right choice, you need at least a little understanding of the theory.
Number of programs
The more programs, the more variety of laundry can be washed in the machine. For example, in most machines, thanks to special programs, woolen and synthetic items can be washed.
Maximum spin speed
The more revolutions, the drier the spin. Normal is considered the number of revolutions, approximately equal to 850 rpm.
Energy class
Depending on the amount of energy consumed by the washing machine, an energy class is set. The best performance for models of classes A, B; medium - C, D, E; the lowest - F, G.
Wash class
This parameter determines how well the laundry will be washed. The best performance for models of classes A, B; medium - C, D, E; the lowest - F, G.
Spin class
Depends on the maximum spin speed and characterizes the degree of residual moisture of the already spun laundry. The best performance for models of classes A, B; medium - C, D, E; the lowest - E, G.
Drum loading
The maximum load ranges from 3 to 7.2 kg. For a family of 5, a 5 kg load is optimal. The larger the capacity of the drum, the less often you have to wash and the less energy will be consumed.
Range of washing machines
All automatic machines on the market are divided into two large classes - frontal washing machines and vertical washing machines. Frontal washing machines are much wider and more popular in Russia. Let's start with him.
Full size models
Full-size machines are available from almost every manufacturer. The exception is Eurosoba. Under this brand, exclusively compact machines are produced.
Moreover, you will not find smaller machines from some manufacturers, such as Miele, AEG, Asko. And this cannot be attributed to the shortcomings of these companies, because their products are designed for people with high incomes and without housing problems. Full-size models are considered to be models whose dimensions - "Height X Width X Depth" (HxWxD) - are standard 85x60x60 cm. By "width" is meant the part of the machine on which the control panel and loading hatch are located, by "depth" - the distance from the front panels to the wall.
Note that the depth of full-size machines is in the range from 53 to 62 cm.
Narrow washing machines
Narrow machines are called machines whose depth is 39-45 cm. Narrow washing machines are in the assortment of most manufacturers: Ardo, Ariston, Beko, Bosch, Candy, Electrolux, Hansa, Hoover, Indesit, Kaiser, LG, Samsung, Siemens, Whirlpool, Zanussi .
Loading in narrow washing machines ranges from 4 to 5.5 kg, depending on the brand.
Super narrow washing machines
Cars with a depth of 32-35 cm are considered super narrow. Such models are the best solution to the problem of free space. The number of manufacturers producing super-narrow cars is increasing every day. Today they are: Beko (35 cm), Indesit (34 cm), LG (34 cm), Samsung (34 cm), Whirlpool (34 cm), Ardo (33 cm), Candy (33 cm), Electrolux (32 cm ), Zanussi (32 cm). The minimum depth is given in parentheses.
As we can see, the most “slender” cars are represented by the Zanussi brand (models FLV 504/ 704/ 904 NN) and Electrolux EWS 1105.
Super narrow models have a reduced loading volume, which is quite natural when the machine volume and, consequently, the drum are reduced. Loading in super narrow cars - 3.5 kg (almost all models) and 4 kg (Beko and Whirlpool). With a decrease in the dimensions of the washing machine, the volume of the drum decreases, which, in turn, affects the quality of the wash. As a rule, models of reduced sizes have lower characteristics (lower washing classes, higher energy consumption, etc.) This applies to everyone, including high-level manufacturers. There are exceptions: for example, LG claims that its three lines of washing machines of different depths (34/44/54 cm) differ only in load volume (3.5/5/6kg), while other characteristics are the same, in particular, classes washing and energy consumption, a set of programs.
Compact washing machines
Washing machines are called compact, in which all dimensions are reduced. But the most important indicator is the height, which does not exceed 70 cm (against the usual 85 cm), because. in most cases, these machines are installed under the sink. Of the manufacturers listed above, compact front-loading machines are produced by Candy (Aquamatic series with dimensions (70x50x43 cm), Electrolux (height 67 cm) and Zanussi (height 67 cm).
The only manufacturer of top loading compact machines is Asko (Compact series), the height of these machines is 68 cm.
Top loading washing machines
According to statistics in Russia, top-loading machines are 25% versus 75% of front-loading machines. The standard dimensions of a vertical washing machine are 90x40x60 cm. Top-loading machines can have either a horizontal or a vertical drum. Top loading machines are available from AEG, Ardo, Ariston, Bosch, Candy, Electrolux, Gorenje, Hoover, Indesit, Kaiser, Miele, Whirlpool, Zanussi. Separately, we note the company Brandt, which specializes in the production of washing machines with only top loading.
